A teddy bear hospital opens in The Emporium, Yeovil!

Bear maker Sara Finch, is well known in Somerset for making her traditional mohair bears. Sara, from Bower Hinton has been making these amazing, fully jointed, ‘heirloom’ bears for many years and selling them through galleries and shops across the county.

Celebrating the opening of her new Bower Hinton Bears shop in The Emporium, Princes Street, Yeovil, Sara has installed a lovely display of her hand made bears, make your own bear kits and is running one day bear making workshops in the town centre store!
In addition, she has added a new service to the many already available in the store, a teddy bear hospital to repair old and well loved bears! Sara says that she is often contacted by clients who own antique or vintage bears, with requests for repairing the damage caused by many years of use... a very worth while service which Sara calls her ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’ Sara, who’s latest ‘patient’ was a very poorly bear from France, donates the proceeds made from her repair service to charity and jokes with us, saying  that she believes that it should really be available on the NHS!

Dawn Woodward, Director at The Emporium says “We’ve known Sara for many years and always been in awe of her unique, handmade bears. We’re delighted to finally have them here in our shop in Yeovil and to be offering a Teddy Bear Hospital service. Sara’s shop will fit perfectly with our established community of makers and crafters and we’re very excited to be offering this to our customers’

A delightful story of a very talented lady and a new service for Yeovil. Pop along to see Sara’s cabinet full of bears in The Emporium, 39 Princes Street, or if you fancy learning to make one of these beautiful bears, enquiry about joining one of the bear making workshops.
