Our Biggest Transformation Yet: How Trove Designs reimagined The Emporium Café at Historic Wyndham House
There comes a point when a space begins to tell a new story.
For us, that moment arrived this year.
Over the past fifteen years, The Emporium has grown from an independent antiques and interiors centre into one of Somerset’s most distinctive destinations. Alongside our independent traders, café and events programme, we’ve always believed that shopping and dining should be experiences to remember.
Now we’ve taken that philosophy one step further.
Our café has undergone its biggest transformation since opening, creating a completely reimagined destination where beautiful interiors, handcrafted food and warm hospitality come together beneath the historic roof of Wyndham House.
More Than a Café
When people visit The Emporium, they often tell us they feel they’ve discovered something unexpected.
That sense of discovery has become the inspiration behind our redesign.
Rather than simply updating furniture or repainting the walls, we asked ourselves a bigger question:
How can we create somewhere people genuinely want to spend time?
The answer was to think beyond cafés altogether.
Instead, we’ve created a series of beautifully styled spaces inspired by the atmosphere of a grand British townhouse, where each seating area has its own personality and character.
Whether you’re enjoying morning coffee, meeting friends for brunch, celebrating with afternoon tea or relaxing over an evening cocktail, every corner has been designed to feel welcoming, comfortable and memorable.
Designed by Trove Designs
The transformation has been designed and curated by our own interior design studio, Trove Designs.
The project demonstrates what thoughtful interior design can achieve in a commercial setting.
Every element has been carefully considered, including:
- luxurious fabrics and upholstery
- bespoke furniture layouts
- statement lighting
- carefully chosen colour palettes
- heritage-inspired styling
- decorative accessories and artwork
- flexible seating for couples, families and larger groups
Our aim wasn’t simply to create a beautiful café.
It was to create a destination where guests naturally slow down, stay longer and enjoy the surroundings as much as the food and drink.
The Trove Designs Approach
- Interior concept development
- Space planning
- Customer journey design
- Colour palettes and material selection
- Furniture and lighting sourcing
- Styling and merchandising
- Supplier coordination
- Project management from concept to completion
Inspired by Wyndham House
One of the greatest privileges of working within this remarkable building is its history.
Wyndham House has welcomed visitors for generations, and we wanted the interiors to acknowledge that heritage while feeling entirely relevant today.
Throughout the café you’ll discover elegant details that quietly reference the building’s past, balanced with contemporary comfort and practical design.
It’s this combination of history, craftsmanship and hospitality that makes The Emporium unlike anywhere else in Yeovil.
Beautiful Spaces for Every Occasion
The redesigned café is intended to evolve throughout the day.
Visit The Emporium Cafe for:
- freshly prepared breakfasts and brunches
- speciality coffees and homemade cakes
- our popular Afternoon Tea (served Thursday, Friday and Saturday by prior booking)
- lunches with friends
- cocktails and wine
- live music evenings
- private celebrations
- special events throughout the year
Each visit offers a slightly different experience, making the café somewhere you’ll want to return to again and again.
Looking Ahead
This transformation is only the beginning.
The redesign also marks the next chapter in the development of Trove Designs and the launch of The Wyndham House Collection, our heritage-inspired interiors brand celebrating timeless British craftsmanship.
As the collection grows, visitors will begin to see more of that story woven throughout The Emporium.
Many of the interiors you’ll see in the café reflect the design principles behind the collection—beautiful materials, enduring quality and spaces designed to be lived in and enjoyed.
We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved and grateful to everyone who has supported us throughout the transformation.
If you haven’t visited recently, we’d love to welcome you back.
Come and experience the new Emporium Café, discover the story behind the design, and see why Wyndham House continues to inspire everything we do.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
