Did you know that for several years we have been fortunate enough to have many volunteers work with us at The Emporium?
We partnered with Yeovil Jobcentre a few years ago and have been helping individuals who are seeking work to gain experience and confidence in a work environment.
Carys, Craig and Amanda are currently on placements with us via the job centre and have become important members of our team, Craig as a kitchen porter in the cafe, Carys serving customers at our tills and Amanda helping to keep our shop clean and tidy. They follow in the footsteps of around 20 previous volunteers who’ve worked with us, all of whom we’ve appreciated and in-turn, they’ve gained valuable experience at The Emporium. We’re delighted to say that many, as a result of their work experience, have moved on into paid jobs in the town and that The Emporium and The Emporium Cafe have benefited immensely from the interaction.
We’re also working closely with Yeovil College and providing work-based ‘Industry Placements’ for students studying hospitality...
Bethany is studying for her Level 3 qualification in hospitality and hopes to qualify as a chef. She works with us two days a week and is doing a great job supporting our Head Chef and the rest of the team in The Emporium Cafe.
