The Reimagined Emporium Café Bar, Yeovil | A Unique Dining Experience at Historic Wyndham House
If you’ve visited The Emporium before, you’re in for a wonderful surprise.
Over the past few months, we’ve been quietly transforming our café into something entirely new. The result is a beautifully reimagined café bar that combines homemade food, carefully selected wines, speciality coffee and inspiring interiors, all within the historic surroundings of Wyndham House in the heart of Yeovil.
This isn’t simply a refurbishment. It’s the next chapter in The Emporium’s story.

Welcome to the new Emporium Café Bar
The Emporium Café has been welcoming visitors to Yeovil for over fifteen years. During that time, we’ve become known for homemade food, friendly service and our unique setting inside one of the town’s most fascinating historic buildings.
As our business has evolved, so has our vision.
We wanted to create a destination where people don’t simply stop for lunch or coffee, but choose to spend time. Somewhere you can meet friends, celebrate special occasions, enjoy a leisurely brunch or simply escape the everyday for an hour or two.

Every decision has been made with that in mind.
Inspired by the history of Wyndham House
The Emporium occupies historic Wyndham House, an elegant Georgian townhouse that has watched over Princes Street for centuries.
The building has inspired much of our thinking.

Rather than creating a modern café that could exist anywhere, we’ve embraced the character of the house while introducing influences from the great journeys and collections of the Georgian and Regency eras.
Rich wallpapers, velvet seating, tropical foliage, decorative lighting, antique treasures and carefully chosen artwork all help create an atmosphere that feels warm, welcoming and wonderfully different.
The transformation was conceived, designed and project-managed by Trove Designs, our in-house interior design studio. Every wallpaper, lighting feature, fabric, piece of furniture and decorative detail was carefully selected to create a series of immersive spaces inspired by the history and character of Wyndham House.

Choose your destination
One of the biggest changes is the introduction of individually themed seating areas throughout the café.
Instead of simply asking for a table, guests can choose a setting that suits the occasion.
From the elegant Peacock Parlour to the exotic Leopard’s Lair, the tranquil Palm House and our striking central banquette beneath its chandelier, every area has been designed to have its own personality while remaining part of one harmonious space.
We hope every visit encourages you to discover another corner of the café.
A menu made for every occasion
Our reimagined surroundings are matched by an evolving menu.
Join us for breakfast, brunch, lunch, homemade cakes or freshly prepared light bites, all served alongside expertly made coffees, premium teas and a carefully selected range of wines, beers and soft drinks.
We’re also introducing new evening experiences throughout the year, including wine tastings, themed dining events, live music and seasonal celebrations.
Whether you’re calling in for a quick coffee or spending an afternoon with friends, we want every visit to feel like an occasion.

Afternoon Tea at The Emporium
Afternoon Tea remains one of our signature experiences.

Served in the elegant surroundings of Wyndham House, our Afternoon Tea features a selection of handmade savouries, freshly baked scones and homemade cakes, all prepared in our own kitchen.
Afternoon Tea is available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays by advance booking only.
If you’d like to learn more about the history behind our Afternoon Tea, we invite you to read our Journal article exploring how this much-loved tradition connects with the history of Wyndham House.
More than just somewhere to eat
The Emporium Café Bar is part of a much larger experience.

After your meal, take time to explore The Emporium itself – one of Somerset’s most distinctive independent shopping destinations, home to dozens of specialist traders offering antiques, interiors, gifts, fashion, artisan products and unique discoveries.

Many visitors arrive for a browse and stay for lunch. Others come for lunch and lose themselves exploring the shop afterwards.
Either way, there’s always something new to discover.
Looking ahead
The transformation of our café marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
In the coming months we’ll continue to expand our wine selection, introduce carefully crafted cocktails, launch new events and develop even more reasons to visit throughout the year.
Our ambition is simple: to create one of the most distinctive independent café bars in Somerset, where exceptional hospitality, beautiful surroundings and genuine warmth come together.
Whether you’re joining us for brunch, lunch, coffee, an evening event or one of our much-loved Afternoon Teas, we look forward to welcoming you.
